The Clean Air Day campaign
Clean Air Day is an annual UK campaign to raise awareness of air pollution and encourage people to act to protect themselves and their air quality.
It lasts for around four months, and culminates on Clean Air Day itself, usually in the middle of the summer.

I worked on the campaign as Campaign Manager in 2018 and Communications Lead in 2019. In both instances I worked with a team to:
-
place air pollution stories in the media;
-
encourage business and government partners, schools, community groups and individuals, to organise and take part in events to raise awareness of the importance of good air quality;
-
develop other relevant marketing activities such as research to share, films, newsletters and a social media campaign.
Following the 2018 campaign, before- and after-Clean Air Day opinion polls found that public understanding of key air pollution issues increased over the period of the campaign. Plus more people started doing things to cut air pollution.
The 2019 campaign built on this success, bringing together 400,000 people and over 3,000 organisations at 614 events on, and in the run-up to, Clean Air Day itself.

In 2019 the campaign also won Best Not for Profit Campaign at the Business Green Awards and Best Use of Research at the PR Moment Awards.
